Have you ever listened to something called “no poo”? It’s receiving more and trendier these days as most people get irritated with all of the chemicals that are in their everyday shampoo and conditioner. Use baking soda as shampoo. While there are many natural shampoos and conditioners on the market, they are normally very costly. So, in comes the “no poo” idea.
The theory behind this is that our hair only gets oily because we strip the natural oils from it every time we shampoo our hair. Our scalp then has to overcompensate, so it discharges more oils than it should and our hair ends up looking super greasy until we clean those excess oils out again.
The proponents of “no poo” speak that if we let our scalp to readjust to not having shampoo and conditioner which generally takes around 1-2 months then our hair will appear sparkly, fresh, and not oily all the time without the use of shampoos and conditioners.
They still use things like baking soda shampoo, lemons, vinegar, and so many other things to wash their hair, just not something with chemicals. We tried the “no poo” idea a few times some years back and could never find past the adjustment phase.
There would always be somewhere that I had to go to through that time where we just couldn’t get away with not having my hair shampooed. So I would yield in and be back to square 1. (Plus, we just actually like the smell of baking soda shampoo and conditioner!!)
So we’ve determined to compromise. We can use shampoo and conditioner 1-2 times per week, and the rest of the time we just use Baking Soda as Shampoo to remain the oiliness in check. Baking Soda as Shampoo has worked out great so far and we are very satisfied with the outcomes.
Here’s how we use Baking Soda as Shampoo:
1st – Turn over your head upside down over the tub (Baking Soda Shampoo is great for your skin, so you like it in the tub much better than on the bathroom floor).
2nd – Pour about 1/8 of a cup of baking soda in your hands.
3rd – Distribute the Baking Soda as Shampoo with your hands evenly through your hair starting close to your scalp other than not on your scalp.
4th – Spin your head right side up and brush or comb your hair until it gets back to its usual color (btw if you haven’t ongoing to go gray yet, be ready for the shock when you look in the mirror of seeing what you will likely look like in 10-20 years.
5th – Style your hair like you normally do.
Be cautious while using Baking Soda as Shampoo, don’t let it get inside your eyes, in fact, take care of your scalp too. In our experience, it’s next to unfeasible to get it off your scalp without just cleaning your hair out. If you want to seek out the “no poo” idea, if you want to go above mention direction, we greatly recommend you will see the difference very soon in your hairs. Using Baking Soda as Shampoo is really great idea. So, what do you think?
